2008

Last year’s event was very successful and a great start for future years to come. We raised approximately $25,000. With that money we donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure of Maryland; we gave two scholarships to deserving students from Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids, IA, where Jane was PTA President and where both of her sons graduated; and we purchased patio furniture, a bench, and a birch tree for the new Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha, IA. We also are supporting five children (3 girls and 2 boys) in Nicaragua through Compassion International.

This year we’re going to change the venue around to have more fun. We are going to have a New England Clam Bake and Bull Roast on Saturday, September 6, 2008 between 6 – 11 p.m. We will have a DJ, raffles, a silent auction, prize wheel, etc. All of this will be held at the Tall Cedars Hall at Putty Hill and Old Harford Road in Parkville. The food will be catered by Atlantic Caterers. We’re also going to throw in some surprise entertainment. The cost will be $50 per person.

Jane Hale Jones lost her battle with breast cancer in 2006, leaving behind a loving family and a legacy of positivity and generosity. Jane's Legacy Foundation is her family's way of carrying on her spirit and supporting the causes that meant so much to her.

This year we would like to support breast cancer research in Maryland and continue to support the college scholarships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
